The «TEPLOCOM» Company has developed a new layout of carbonation gas purification and cooling with closed water-cycling circuit. The gas purifier is designed for purifying and cooling various gases under direct contact between media, which take part in the heat-mass exchange.
At the most of the sugar mills, the gas scrubber types «LGM-1600», «PSG-1.6-3.0», and rotoclone are installed in the layout of carbonation gas purification and cooling. The basic disadvantages of these units are high water consumption (up to 20% to the weight of beets) and considerable hydraulic resistance on gas route (200-600 mm Н20), which increases electricity consumption at liquid-packed pumps.
The «TEPLOCOM» Company has created the carbonation gas purifier (Venturi scrubber) for lime-gas kilns used at the sugar mills, and contact wash water cooler (cooling tower). No-fan contact cooler is designed for water cooling in the reverse water-cycling at industrial enterprises, including sugar mills..

As it is seen form the table, electricity consumption with scrubber (carbonation gas purifier) installed is lower than that on the existing equipment.
The offered units have been developed on the basis of a new method of heat-mass exchange intensification, which uses kinetic energy of the moving liquid flow in order to develop the surface of inter-phase contact between phases. Carbonation gas coolers and cooling towers are equipped with spiral centrifugal nozzles, which provide good sprinkling, fragmentation of clean and contaminated water during its variable consumption without extra energy. Such gas purification and cooling layouts using the Venturi scrubber are implemented at many sugar mills of Ukraine and CIS countries.
