Recirculation of spent gases
Using scheme with spent gases recirculation in dryers, in general, allows to decrease fuel consumption. Apart of this, as applied to high-temperature cylinder pulp dryers, fire safety of the facility is increased, losses of exhausted cossettes in cylinder are decreased, and quality of dried pulp is improved.

For high-temperature cylinder dryer, fuel saving is achieved by replacing part of air supplied to fire chamber with spent gases that have higher temperature. In this case, only that quantity of air, sufficient for complete combustion of all fuel, is supplied to the fire chamber. The less air is coming to operation circuit of the facility and, therefore, is discharged to the atmosphere, the more efficient is recirulation mode. Along with decrease of air consumption, humidity of spent gases will increase. It will improve fire safety, decrease losses of exhausted cossettes and improve its quality.

So, efficiency of using recirculation is limited, first of all, by that minimum quantity of air, supplied to the burner, at which complete combustion is achieved (i.e. by burner design), as well as by amount of air inhausted to the drying cylinder (i.e. design of sealing devices of the drum).

When modifying facility for operation by scheme with recirculation of spent gases, it is necessary to recalculate and, possibly, reconstruct fire chamber for not to allow overheating of its lining.
